Milk Processed by Alternative to Heat Treatment

An approval has recently been given by the New South Wales Food Authority (NSWFA) for milk that is produced using a high pressure process as an alternative to heat treatment by pasteurisation.

The NSWFA has advised that it is satisfied that the business producing this milk has demonstrated that a through chain (farm to factory) approach, combined with high pressure processing, can achieve equivalency to heat pasteurisation and provide adequate pathogen reduction in the finished products.
